Overlap
Connect your assistant
Overlap finds the person who’s two weeks ahead of you on whatever you’re working through, and introduces you — only if you both say yes. This connector lets the assistant you already use tell Overlap what that is.
What it can do — one tool
record_focus stores a short topic and a one-to-three sentence summary of what you’re working on. It cannot read your conversation, your code, your files, or anything you’ve pasted: an MCP server only ever receives the arguments of a tool call, so the conversation is not ours to see even in principle.
You need an Overlap account
The connector records to your account, so connecting starts with signing in. If you don’t have one yet, start here — then come back and connect.
Connect your assistant
Let Claude or ChatGPT record what you’re working on, so Overlap can find the person who’s two weeks ahead of you. It sends a topic and a summary, never your conversation — the protocol only hands us what a tool call contains. You’ll need an Overlap account; sign in first and connecting is one click.
Your connector URL
- Claude will note that the values came from a link — that’s expected. Check them and confirm.
- Leave Client ID and Client Secret empty. Overlap registers itself.
- On a free Claude plan you can keep one custom connector.
On Claude Team or Enterprise an Owner has to add it for the organisation first. After that everyone else sees a Connect button instead of this dialog.
Or by hand: Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, and paste the URL above.
Staying in control
Every topic it records appears on your Connect page, where you can switch off matching for any of them or have them deleted. Sensitive topics — health, money, relationships, legal — are stored but never matched. A topic nobody mentions for 21 days stops counting as current work, though it can still match someone who arrives at the same problem later. You can revoke the connection at any time from your assistant’s own settings. Privacy · Terms
